Casa no Tempo Designed by Aires Mateus Architects
A former family estate set within the Alentejo plains, the architecture strips away non-essential elements to focus on spatial clarity, local clay pavement, bleached white surfaces, and massive glass openings that frame the surrounding countryside.
Cabanas no Rio Designed by Aires Mateus Architects
Cabanas no Rio transforms two historic fishermen's huts along the Sado River in Comporta into a minimalist sanctuary. Built entirely from reclaimed timber, the project reinterprets traditional local construction to integrate seamlessly into the surrounding landscape. One cabin houses the main living and kitchen area, while the other accommodates the bedroom and bathroom, creating a pared-back dialogue between architecture, water, and light.
Teshima Art Museum designed by Ryue Nishizawa
Resembling a water droplet fallen into the landscape, the structure consists of a seamless, 25-centimeter-thin concrete shell with no internal columns. Two large oval openings invite wind, rain, light, and sound directly into the space, creating a meditative environment where architecture and nature act as the sole exhibit.
